An integral part of Indian culture, Indian festivals are innumerable in
number and are equally varied in origin marking the national, regional, local, religious, seasonal and social fervour.
The Indian calendar is one long procession of festivals dedicated to various deities, saints, prophets and also seasons,
with every day of the year being observed as a festival, in some part of the country. Each festival is unique in
style and is characterised by colour, gaiety, enthusiasm, feasts and heterogeneity of prayers and rituals.
Many of these festivals are common to most parts of India, though called by different names and celebrated differently,
